The Abbey Lakes Hotel nestles on the border of Wigan in the lovely countryside of Orrell. Around the area there are plenty of local sites of interest and pleasant walks, together with the pleasing Abbey Lake which is a favourite walk with both locals and lovers of nature. The lake boasts a host of protected birds and wildlife, and offers the opportunity for a great day out for the family.

Since September 2006 the Abbey Lakes has been taken over by the new owners Ann-Marie and David who during this time have worked hard to embrace “The old with the new”, in providing pleasant modern day surroundings to this wonderful Victorian building. 

The Abbey Lakes Hotel is fast becoming known as “The Best in Wigan “for live entertainment. Customers know that on a Saturday evening they can turn up at the pub and “expect” and “get” the best there is in live entertainment. Usually, the local bands have the Abbey Lakes rocking on a Saturday night.
If it’s live music you are after then the Abbey Lakes Hotel is the place!  

But that’s not all.
Families are given equal regard. The Abbey Lakes Hotel boasts one of the finest beer gardens in the area…gets the sun all day. Magnificent trees for shade, and has a children’s play area. Ann-Marie and David hope to develop this further by providing a playhouse and sand pit in the future, “we know that if your children are happy then you are”

Moreover, the garden provides a very pleasant surrounding for small private functions. In the summer time, a private bar in the garden can be arranged. (Subject to conditions.)

Catering for these kinds of events is our speciality. (Buffet prices available on request)
In addition to this the Abbey Lakes also has a ‘café style’ outside area, (below the main beer garden) ideal for eating ‘alfresco’ or just enjoying a drink with friends in the summer sun

The Abbey Lakes is also able to cater for small functions within the hotels premises. Please ask for details and we will endeavour to meet your requirements.
  

We are also close to the racecourses ( Haydock, Aintree) and the Abbey Lakes Hotel can cater for your stag, hen, and work’s ‘do’ out, arranging for your day/evening to the racecourse. Price includes a “Hearty Breakfast” “Evening Meal” transport to the racetrack and transport back.

We have introduced a small but fine selection of cask ales, rotated to give customer choice, and to tempt you into trying something new, together with a tasteful wine list boasting a selection of fine, still and sparkling wines, and champagnes, to match any celebration you might be having, all at a reasonable cost.  

The Abbey Lakes Hotel an established Inn and Lodge is in the process of refurbishing five en-suite letting rooms, the completion date for these is the end of November 2007.
